Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit our website! Hopefully the few minutes you spend here will give you a better idea about our church.

Westlake Nyon is an English-speaking church located along the shore of “Lac Leman” (more commonly known to English speakers as Lake Geneva) in Switzerland. The town of Nyon is about 20 minutes east of Geneva and 30 minutes west of Lausanne. The church building is just a two-minute walk from the train station in Nyon and is in close proximity to a large open-air car-park called “Perdtemps”.

Westlake Church is an independent, evangelical church where people of many different cultures and nationalities come together to worship. You can find out more about our beliefs by reading
What We Believe. Being so closely situated to Geneva and its many international organizations and companies, we believe that Westlake has an important role to play in the lives of people who come to this part of the world, whether it be long term or just for a couple of years.
Our service is on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. There are also a number of activities during the week which cater to different needs and age groups.

History
Westlake Church was established in 1987 by a number of families from a wide background of primarily evangelical Christian denominations who were attending a church in Geneva, but living closer to the Nyon area. Philippe and Wendi Berthoud, retired missionaries from India, were instrumental in the gathering of English-speaking believers in the Nyon area. In 1987 the Evangelical Baptist Church of Geneva along with Crossroads Church (another evangelical church located in nearby Ferney-Voltaire, France) planted Westlake to minister to the growing English-speaking population around Nyon. This church plant was located in Bogis-Bossy and met in various homes and in a local community center. As the church grew in numbers, the decision was made in 1990 to move to our current location: La Fraternelle in Nyon. A church plant in Lausanne was formed in 2005, with a new full time pastor joining in 2008. Westlake Church Lausanne is now a separate and independent church. Learn more about the
Lausanne venue.

Our first pastoral couple, Alan & Pauline Wilson, joined Westlake in 1990 and served the church until 2007. In 2008, Pastor David McChesney and his wife Lyn joined us in Nyon from New Zealand.
