Our Vision:

Rooted in the Gospel

  Radical Transformation

Our vision can be summarised as Rooted in the Gospel, Radical transformation. That as individuals and as a church, we would be so deeply rooted in the gospel, and the gospel so deeply rooted in us, that it would have a wonderful, radically transforming effect on our lives.

Our Values:

Worship

We want God to be the passion of our lives and to worship Him for who He is.

The Gospel

We want all our people to be able to live in the good of and forever be grateful to God for all that Jesus Christ has done for us through His death and resurrection.

Biblical teaching

We are committed to and passionate about biblical teaching and preaching. Across all the age groups in the church we want our teaching to develop in all of us a love for God and a desire to live for His glory in every area of our lives.

Our marriages and families

We want to do everything we can to build strong marriages and families, and see our children grow up with a deep passion and love for Christ and His kingdom.

Fellowship

We love getting together and sharing our lives together. We do that through small groups, church family meals and occasional retreats and camps.

Mission

We believe everyone needs to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and we want to do everything that we can to see that happen. That means every member of Westlake Lausanne seeing themselves as missionaries to their own tribe: to their work colleagues, their friends and their neighbours. It means as a church we organise events that enable people to hear the good news of Jesus. It means we regularly support individuals and organisations around the globe who are working to see that happen. And we are honoured to have a strong local connection with Medair, a humanitarian organisation that works in some of the most troubled parts of the world bringing help and care to he most vulnerable, guided by its Christian ethos.

Our Missions Committee consists of a group men and women committed to promote and coordinate the support of missionary activities within the local community and around the world.

Sponsored Missionary Activities

Currently Westlake church Lausanne devotes 10% of its annual income to promote the work of several missionary activities around the world. Each humanitarian project is overseen by one member of the committee responsible to report the progress on the project.

Medair -  Zimbabwe

Medair is a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with internationally recruited staff who are motivated by their Christian faith to care for people in need. In 2008-2009, a deadly cholera outbreak struck in Zimbabwe, killing more than 4,000 people and affecting major urban areas that had become vulnerable because of degraded water plants, broken sewers, and uncollected waste.

Medair opened a new humanitarian program in this crisis-affected country in January 2010. Medair’s main goal is to reduce the risk of water-related diseases for vulnerable people in urban and rural areas by rehabilitating the existing water-supply infrastructure.

Colleen’s place of Hope

Colleen's Place of Hope is an accredited orphanage for abused and abandoned children in Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town, South Africa. It was founded by Colleen Naidoo and her husband Farrell in 1990 and they have personally fostered many children from newborn to teenagers, providing them with a loving Christian environment and hope for the future.

Most of the children at Colleen's Place of Hope are victims of mental and/or physical abuse. They were abandoned, often seriously damaged during pregnancy or due to the mother’s drug abuse and some are HIV positive. Colleen and Farrell are completely committed to shining Christ’s love into these often very dark lives, and, imagine they usually have over 30 children in their small home!

Myanmar

Christianity first reached Myanmar in the early 1500, but the task of spreading the gospel became a challenge due to the fact that most Burmese were devoted Buddhists. The foundations of the Protestant Church were laid by the lifetime work of American Baptist missionaries, Adoniram and Ann Judson who arrived in Rangoon (now called Yangon) on July 13, 1813. In 1962 Budhism became the official religion of the country resulting on much hardship and all sort of restrictions on the Christian minorities. As of today the church has grown in the midst of tribulation and many have risked their lives to deliver the Good news.

As the Church in Myanmar grows, so does the need for local leadership and reaching remote areas in the country with the gospel of Jesus Christ; Westlake Church Lausanne is privileged to partner with our brothers and sisters in Myanmar who have taken on the challenge to teach and disciple young people from various tribes and people groups within Myanmar and send them back to their people – all for the Glory of God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
